Death
Funeral services for Mrs. Edward Earl Miers of Crystal Springs were held Dec. 29 in Crystal Springs with burial in the cemetery there. The Rev. Estus Mason, Crystal Springs, and Dr. Bob Ramsay, Brookhaven, officiated at the rites. Harry Thompson was in charge of music at the services. Mrs. Miers in ill health since she suffered a fall on Oct. 11, died in King’s Daughters Hospital Dec. 28. She had been staying in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Phillips, in Brookhaven since her injury sustained in the fall. Mrs. Miers, the former Estelle Furr, daughter of the Jate Rankin and Dosier Ivy Furr, was born in Lincoln County Jan. 13, 1894. She had resided most of her life in Crystal Springs where she had been active, until ill health prevented her participation in work of the First Baptist Church in that town. Mrs. Miers was preceded in death just 46 days by her husband, Haward Earl Miers, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Phillips. Mrs. Miers is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Howard Phillips and Mrs. Katie McNamee, both of Brookhaven, 2 sister, Mrs. Walter Barksdale, Brookhaven and four grandchildren.Endnotes
