Death
Final rites for Mrs. Martha Ellen Sides, 87, of Route 3, Albemarle, were held Monday at 3 p.m. at Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church, where she was a member. Mrs. Sides died Saturday at her home. She is survived by her husband, James C. Sides; three sons, Ed Sides of Winston-Salem, Jim Sides of Albemarle and Roy Sides of Concord; four daughters, Mrs. Reau Whitley, Mrs. Houston Almond, Mrs. D. C. Bowers and Mrs. Brady Huneycutt all of Albemarle; one brother, Chan Hatley of Stanfield; 15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Daughter of the late Haston and Martha J. Herrin Hatley, she was born October 7, 1882 in Stanly County. Rites were conducted by EIder Cliff Allen assisted by Rev. A. B. Weaver. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Whitley, Coolidge Bowers, Dolan Sides, Tommy Sides, Wayne Huneycutt, Johnny Sides, George Bowers and Jimmy Sides.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, September 29, 1970
