Death
Flossie Mae Furr Bowers, 88, of 620 Heathwood Dr., Albemarle, died Saturday, May 18, 1996, at 1:50 p.m. in Evangeline Health Care, Albemarle. Her funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel. Elder Richard Almond will officiate and burial will be in Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Hazel Almond, at 500 Mountain Creek Road, Albemarie. Born April 19, 1908, in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Furr and Martha Ellen Hatley Furr Sides and was a homemaker. Two sons, Floyd Bowers and George Bowers, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Crawford Bowers; a daughter, Hazel B. Almond of Albemarle; three sisters, Reau Hallman, Vernie Almond and Beatrice Huneycutt, all of Albemarle; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
