Death
STANFIELD Mr. Harvey Lee Kiker, 79, passed away at the Hospice Unit of the V.A. Medical Center in Salisbury. Harvey was one of four children born to Albert and Retta Furr Kiker. He was born in Stanfield on Feb. 10, 1932. He served in the U.S. Army for four years during the Korean War and served in the U.S. Navy four more years. He retired from Concrete Supply in Concord after more than 27 years. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Archie Kiker and Evelyn Ross; grandson, Richard "Little Rich" Carter, and great grandchildren, Jessica Joyner and Evan Ross. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frances Carriker Kiker; daughters, Lori Kiker Joyner and her husband, Rusty; Sandy Sherrill-Chadwell and her husband, Stewart; Betty Threatt and her husband, Steve, all of Concord, and Sherry Penn, of Temple Texas; a sister, Brenda Rich and her husband, Coy; grandchildren, Jodi Hartsell and her husband, David; Stephanie Huntley and her husband, Tim; Caylee Joyner, Jozua Joyner; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Ross, Hope Miller, Faith Miller, Leah Hartsell, Richard "Jake" Hartsell, Taylor Simpson, and Parker Huntley. The family thanks the staff of the V.A. Medical Center Hospice Unit for their kind and compassionate care. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2011, at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, at West Concord Cemetery with military honors.
