Death
CONCORD -- Archie Johnson Kiker, 73, of 2575 Parks Lafferty Road, died Sunday, September 15, 2002 t his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 8, 1929 in Stanly County and was the son of the late Albert Thomas Kiker and Rhettie Furr Kiker. He attended school in Stanly and Cabarrus counties. Mr. Kiker was previously employed with Cannon Mills and was retired as owner of Kiker Hosiery. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he had served as a Sunday School teacher and a deacon. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, with Reverend Don Lisk officiating. Burial will follow at Locust United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. Mr. Kiker is survived by his wife, Mary Collins Kiker; two sons, Steve Kiker and wife, Tana, of Harrisburg, and Alan Kiker and wife, Sandie, of Concord; four grandchildren, Josh Kiker, Matt Kiker and Michael Kiker of Harrisburg, and Lisa Kiker of Cleveland, NC; two step-grandchildren, Darin Gribble and Justin Gribble of Concord; a brother, Harvey Kiker of Stanfield; and a sister, Brenda Ritch of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Hinson of Palm Bay, FL. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County, PO Box 1235, Concord, NC 28026.
