Death
Mrs. Daisy Lee Tucker Hill, 82, of Monroe, surrounded by her loving family went home to be with her Lord on June 26, 2006 after a long illness. Mrs. Hill was born on April 15, 1924 to the late H. Duncan and Lessie Furr Tucker. Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Roanoke Baptist Church, Ridge Rd. in Monroe where she was a member since having been saved in her teens. Officiating will be Rev. Don Thompson, Rev. David Gordon and Rev. Matthew Gordon. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband of 65 years, G. B. Hill. She leaves behind five children, Phyllis Griffin and husband Keith of Marshville, Lynda Gordon and husband David of Wingate, Peggy Baucom and husband Ted of Monroe, Ricky Hill and wife, Donna of Monroe and Dennis Hill and special friend Kim Beaver of Concord. She also leaves eight grandchildren, Regina Griffin King and husband Tony of Nashville, Tennessee, Todd Baucom and wife Stephanie of Sylva, Brian Griffin of Marshville, Matthew Gordon and wife Michelle of Wingate, Chris Hill and wife Rebecca, Marla Baucom Williams and husband Jeremy, Jeremy Hill and wife Crystal , all of Monroe and Josh Beaver of Concord. Mrs. Hill also leaves eight great grandchildren, Bret Baucom, Chris Turpin, Ashton, Jonathan, Lydia and Kaylee Gordon, Savana King, and Anna Williams. Mrs. Hill is also survived by three sisters, Louise Rushing of Monroe, Hannah Furr of Baltimore, Maryland, Jane Byrum of Monroe, Mandy Bigham of Waxhaw and special sister-in-law, Estelle Tucker of Monroe and one brother, Johnny Tucker of Monroe. She was preceded in death by one brother, Mack Tucker and two sisters, Sarah Hargette and Ellen Tucker. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1730 E. Dickerson Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110 or the David and Lynda Gordon Mission Fund in care of Shinning Light Baptist Church, 2541 Old Charlotte Hwy., Monroe, NC 28110. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Angela Barron, Total Care, especially Ann Thompson and Community Home Care and Hospice. The family would also like to say a special thank you to Lynda Gordon for the care that she gave to her mother during her illness. Words cannot express what the rest of the family feels for this daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and grandmother for the loving care that she gave to their wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Lynda has been an inspiration and a rock for her entire family during the illness of her mother and we all want to say thank you and God bless you, Lynda, for all that you have done.
