Death
James R. Morrison 'Jack' CONCORD -- Mr. Morrison, 88, of 36 Georgia Street NW, died February 15, 2004 at his daughter's home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18th at Forest Hills United Methodist Church, Concord, Dr. Michael Kurtz, Rev. Karen Kurtz and Rev. Merrill Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home. Born April 2, 1915 in Cabarrus County, NC, he was son of the late John Thomas Morrison and the late Minnie Furr Morrison. He retired in 1979, from Whitley's Funeral Home after 32 years of service. After retirement, he and his wife opened and operated AlMar Ceramic Shop in Concord for many years. He was a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church where he was active in many activities including the Fink-Petrea Sunday school class, the United Methodist Men, and the church hot dog sales. He is survived by his daughter, Marcia M. Meadows of Mt. Holly, NC; son, Charles Morrison of Clarksville, TN; sister, Mable Fink of Landis, NC; 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. His wife, Alice Wingate Morrison, preceded him in death July 30, 1999. The family wishes to thank Hospice of Gaston County for their help and support. Memorials are requested to Forest Hills United Methodist Church, 265 Union Street North, Concord, NC 28025. The family will be at the residence.
