Death
Thelma Harwood Kiser, 90, of Kannapolis, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022. Thelma was born May 13, 1932 in Stanly County to the late James Franklin Harwood and the late Effie Furr Harwood. Thelma was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Bailey Kiser; and brothers, Floyd and Homer Harwood. After her mother's death, Thelma and her sister, Pat, were lovingly raised by their aunts and uncle (Ethel, Emma, and Monroe Harwood) along with their grandparents (David and Tina Harwood). Thelma graduated from Ridgecrest High School in 1950 and married Bailey in 1952. She worked in textiles for many years and devoted her life to being a wife and mother. Thelma enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. She enjoyed music and singing old hymns. She was a great cook and always prepared enough to feed an army. Thelma was a member of Kerr Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors include daughter, Dawn Helms of Concord; daughter, Joy (David) Lugar of Mount Pleasant; son, Trent Kiser of Kannapolis; granddaughter, Sonia Dudley of Mount Pleasant; sister, Laura "Pat" (William) Mueller of Winston-Salem; nieces, Beth and Lori; nephew, Bill; furbaby, Rambo; and numerous neighbors, friends and church family. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm, Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Chris O'Guin.
