Death
Mrs. Viola F. Burleson, 82, of Route 4, Albemarle, a homemaker, died at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday in Medical Park Nursing Center in High Point. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Canton Baptist Church, where she was a member. Rev. Gary Hunsucker will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Burleson was a native of Stanly County, born June 15; 1904, and was a daughter of the late Goodin Cephus and Louise Morton Furr. She was married to Edgar Spencer Burleson, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a son, Melvin Burleson, and a daughter, Mrs. Phil (Louvine) Almond, both-of Albemarle; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The body will remain at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle until placed in the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family was scheduled to receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Roy Barbee, Bernie Almond, James Thompson, Bennie Joel Burleson, Nick Chris, John Fink, Bryan Hatley and Van Furr.Stanly News and Press, Albemarle, North Carolina, January 23, 1987
