Death

Doris Ann Drye, 74, of 513 N. College St., Oakboro, died at 4:22 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, in Stanly Memorial Hospital. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday with a 30-minute state in First Baptist Church of Oakboro, where she was a member. Dr. Terrell Watts will officiate and interment will be in Oakboro Cemetery. Born May 17, 1931, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Eli Thomas Drye and Lena Ellen Furr Drye and was retired from the credit department of the Bank of America in Charlotte. She was a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and cooking. Her family was very important to her. Two brothers, Brad Drye and Carl Drye, and two sisters, Delette Douglas and Jean Klutz, preceded her in death. She is survived by a brother, Keith Drye of 322 E. 4th St., Oakboro, where the family will make head- quarters; two sisters, Geneva Foard and Beatrice Goodman, both of Oakboro; and 19 nieces and nephews. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Oakboro Building Fund, 322 N.
