Per Debra Anderson, "came up with some ideas as to the father of my Mary Furr Almond.

If you look at the 1830 Stanley Co., NC census there is a John Furr Sr. listed (Believe this is John Furr, s/oPaul s/o Henry & Russena): M 1-5 1-10 1-15 1-60 (John Sen.) F 1-10 1-15 2-20 1-30 1-50 (Abagail)

next door: John Furr Jr. (believe this is John s/o John Dolan Furr. He was born 1807 and married Beneeta Burris. too young to be f/o my Mary and no female of the correct age listed): M 2-5 1-15 1-30 F1-5 1-30

Then look at the 1840 Stanley CO Census. Listed is John Sr.: M 1-15 1-20 1-70 F 1-60

"Several doors down" (!) is my Rowland & Mary Furr Almond: m 1-30 F1-5 1-30

Near by is a Paul Furr believe this to be Paul S. & Sarah Harwood Furr. Note that he is not old enough to have a child born 1820 (my Mary b.1820), and they have a Mary Ann listed in the 1850 census age 7 doubt they would name two females Mary-- though it is not unheard of-- but if this is indeed Paul S. Furr , then he is ruled out as f/o my Mary because of age.

Also listed near by in the 1840 census is a Jeff Furr Do you know who this is? It seems that he is also too young to be father of my Mary--- He is not listed in Stanley CO in 1850 that I can see.

(My) Rowland Almond who married Mary Furr, settles in AR with his family. Note that his wife and children are listed twice in the 1850 census. Once with Rowland Almond HH in AR, and once with Sarah Almond 426/427 in Stanley County, NC (believe that Rowland went to AR to "scout out" the area, and then brought his family back with him) -- & could be that this is the person my Sarah d/o Rowland and Mary was named after--. NOTE: Adam Furr, s/o John Dolan Furr, also settles in AR, at the same time, near my Rowland Almond. I have always known that my Mary was somehow related to this Capt. Adam Furr. I believe that they were brother and sister!

William Thomas Albright has not accounted for all the individuals in the 1830 Stanley Co, NC of John Furr Sr.. Specifically, he does not account for the female age 1-10. My Mary accounts for the female age 1-10. And figuring that she is then living several down from him in the 1840 (just married), there seems to be a connection. She then moves with her husband to AR, at the same time Adam Furr does her older brother. In the 1860 census, her husband is not accounted for and she is listed (assume he has died, have not found a death notice or will) and she is close by to
Adam--

All of these coincidences seems to add up. My Mary Furr who married Rowland Almond in Cabarrus CO, NC July 9,1838 (documented) is the child of John Dolan Furr and Abigail Stallings."

Per Debra Anderson, "Follow up census work for John Dolan Furr family indicates more children of John & Abigail Furr than other researchers list...

Kellis Allman is on the other side of this Jess/Jeff/James Furr SarahRowland is on the other side of Kellis =Rowland Almond's maternal relatives Matthias Rowland on the other side of her

NOTE:Stanley CO was formed from Montgomery CO in 1841.

NOTE:There is no James/Jess/Jeff Furr living in the 1850 Stanley CO NC census.

John Dolan Furr died September 27, 1842

Abagail is found living with her son Ransom in the 1850 Stanley CO NC Census.

If anyone out there is researching these individuals, I would sure like to exchange thoughts and theories. Please contact me.

Per STANLEY COUNTY HERITAGE-NORTH CAROLINA VoL. I.... John Dolan Furr was actually the s/o Paul, s/o Heinrich. This Paul died young, as did his wife. This is not the "same Paul" that most list as the s/o Heinrich. John Dolan and his brother Henry were raised by their Uncle John = who many list as their father. 'Apparently' their is some documentation to this in the records that Mr. Albright missed (& adding that this would not be the only error in his work).

Also wondering why everyone lists this John with the middle name Dolan?"
