Death
Carlton B. Lynch, 73, of 2734 Burns, died at 1:15 p.m. today at Baptist Hospital of a self-inflicted .38 caliber pistol wound in the head, police said. Homicide Lts. Swann and Carlisle said Lynch, who has been ill, fired the bullet into his left temple about noon. It came out the right side of his head. Lynch, unconscious, was rushed to the hospital in a Jack Ruby ambulance. Swann said Lynch stepped into his front yard in his bath robe. When his wife, Era, called him to lunch he took the pistol out of his robe pocket and fired, Swann said. Lynch has a son, Dr. Marshall Lynch, of Clarksdale, Miss.
