Garland Lyell FURR

Major Garland L. Furr, son of Lee W. Furr of Sicily Island, La., has reported to the Will Rogers Field in Oklahoma to the army air force bombardment base. He received his commission on June 14, 1926 at Louisiana State university in the infantry reserve, and was promoted to the rank of major in September, 1942. Major Furr graduated from the Sicily Island High school in 1922 and received his B. S. degree in agriculture from the Louisiana State university, where he had four years of R. O. T. C. training. Before entering the army, he was junior plant quarantine inspector for the U.S.D.A. at Brownsville, Texas.

Marriage
A marriage license was issued Thursday to Ivah O. Wilkey and Garland L. Furr, both of Nogales. It is understood they were married last evening. The bride has been a resident of Nogales for several years and was employed at Joe Berk’s stores in Nogales and Tucson. She is very popular young woman. Mr. Furr, also very popular, is connected with the United States Department of Agriculture. He is a graduate of Louisiana State University and came here about a year ago from Texas. He is a member of the Bratton Case team of the Elks bowling tournament. Mr. and Mrs. Furr will make their home in Nogales.Nogalas International, Nogalas, Arizona, April 30, 1932
