Death

CONCORD Carl Junior Furr, 80, of Concord, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte. Mr. Furr was born Feb. 15, 1931, in Montgomery County. A member of Gloryland Baptist Church, Charlotte, Carl was a Korean War Veteran of the U. S. Army. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris S. Furr; father, Carl Homer Furr; mother, Margaret Leona Bogle Furr; and daughter, Janice Furr Williams. Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Fodie Louise Clontz Furr, of the home; sons, Mike Furr, of Charlotte, and Gary Furr and his wife, Judy, of Iron Station; brother, James M. Furr and his wife, Pam, of Albemarle; his sister, Judy F. Clark, and her husband, Marvin, of Sebring, Fla.; his stepson, Danny Price, of Concord; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, April 3, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. The funeral will be held at 12 noon, Monday, April 4, and the body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service at Gloryland Baptist Church, Charlotte, officiated by Rev. Sammy Case. Burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. At other times, the family will meet at his home, 2974 Wendover Road, Concord, or the home of his son, Mike, 2716 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte.
