Death

Audrey Louise Harwood, 89, of Mt. Pleasant, NC died in her home, Monday morning, November 20, 2017 with her family by her side. Mrs. Harwood was born on Tuesday, December 6, 1927 in Stanly County, NC to the late Luther Monroe and Minnie Bell Harwood Furr. On October 20, 1946 in Concord, NC as the former Audrey Louise Furr she married her loving husband of 64 years, the late John D. Harwood who died October 19, 2010. She is survived by her loving daughter, Frances (Lee) Youngblood of Raleigh, NC and two brothers, Charles D. (Jane) Harwood of Stanfield, NC and J. Malcolm Harwood of Mount Pleasant, NC. Also surviving are her three grandchildren, Ryan (Brittany) Youngblood, Emily Dionne both of Raleigh, NC and Ashley Harwood of Stanfield, NC; two great-grandsons, Ashton and Jaden; One brother, Eugene (Sue Ellen) Furr of Lexington, NC; three sisters, Edith (George) Cooper of Ashville, NC, Virginia Gannaway of Locust, NC and Carol (Tommy) Cooper of Concord, NC and a dear sister-in-law, Mary Alice Furr also of Concord, NC. She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, husband and brother, Floyd Furr. She was a devout wife, mother and grandmother. The family is comforted by the fact she was a serving Christian that assumed many leadership roles within her church and community bringing others to our Lord Jesus Christ. She was an avid gardener that enjoyed sharing the fruits of her labor with others. The family will receive guests Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 32056 Herrin Grove Road, Mt. Pleasant, NC with Rev. Beau Linker and Rev. Aubrey Whitley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made on behalf of Mrs. Harwood to Oak Grove United Methodist Church or to Cabarrus County Hospice, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Louise will be forever missed by her loving and devoted family and many dear friends. May God grant her eternal rest.
