Death
Walter Fred Furr, 76, of Memphis, retired federal government employee, died of cancer at 2 p.m. Sunday at Methodist Hospital. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Memphis Funeral Home Poplar Chapel with burial in Memphis Memory Gardens. He was a Mason and a member of Graceland Baptist Church. He leaves his wife, Sarah Jackson Furr; a son, Walter F. Furr Jr., and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Nea, both of Memphis, and two granddaughters. The family requests any memorials be sent to Graceland Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, Tennessee, October 18, 1988
