Death
Services for Wade Alexander Kennedy, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mims Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial will be in the cemetery here. Kennedy a prominent resident of Simpson County and the father of Mrs. Byron K. Green of Jackson, died Thursday evening at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson where he had been a patient for three weeks. He was a lifetime resident of Magee, having been born in the Sharon community near Magee on September 3, 1889. Kennedy was a school superintendent and teacher for seventeen years before acquiring farming interest and later going into the mercantile business, from which he was retired. He taught the Men's Bible Class at the First Baptist Church for twenty years before resigning because of ill health. In addition to Mrs. Green, he is survived by his widow, the former Kitty Yelverton, to whom he had been married for fifty-six years; another daughter, Mrs. Lester Furr of Wesson and a son, Wade Winston Kennedy of Hattiesburg, county agent for Forrest County; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. J.C. Ladner of Gulfport; and two brothers, Olyer J. Kennedy of Magee and D.D. Kennedy of Brookhaven.The Clarion-Ledger, 5-29-1971
