Death
James Curtis BowersLANCASTER -- Mr. Bowers, 74, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at his home. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home in Indian Trail. Burial with Military Honors will be held following service at Charlotte Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service. Mr. Bowers was born January 29, 1935 in Graham, NC to the late Willie and Estelle Furr Bowers. He proudly served his country in the US Army and retired after 35 years of service with Weyerhaeuser Paper Company. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bowers was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ora Lee Smith Bowers in 2002 and by his step mother, Virginia DeMoss Bowers. His survivors include his sons, James Hartsell (Elaine) of Holden Beach, Frank Hartsell (Sharon) of Monroe, Freddie Hartsell (Linda) of Monroe, David Bowers (Sandy) of Lancaster, Melvin Bowers of Lancaster, Roger Bowers (Ellen) of Statesville; sisters, Barbara Robinson (Wayne) of Charlotte, Betty Quick of Belmont; and by his beloved Chihuahua, Baby. The family asks that memorials may be made to Hospice of Lancaster, 902 W. Meeting St. Ste A, Lancaster SC 29720. Arrangements for the Bowers Family are in the care of Heritage Funeral Home.
