Death
Betty Flowe Wentz Mrs. Wentz, 77, of Charlotte, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at her home. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 until 9:00 P.M. Monday at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road. Her funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 30, at Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Dr. Chuck Williamson and Rev. Lee Koontz officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Born October 23, 1931, in Mecklenburg County, NC, Mrs. Wentz was a daughter of the late Ira DeArmon Flowe and Beulah Furr Flowe. She attended Philadelphia Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Fred Brown Sunday School Class. She retired February 28, 2007, from AmWINS Group, Inc. as vice-president, after 50 years in the insurance industry. She and her husband enjoyed and taught western square dancing, line dancing and round dancing. She also enjoyed flowers and loved to work in her rose garden. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wentz was preceded in death by a brother, William Furr Flowe. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bill Wentz; a brother, Mac Flowe and his wife, Glenda; and her sister, Jean Rogers, all of Mint Hill; and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Philadelphia Presbyterian Church, 11501 Bain School Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227, or Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
