Death
The Shelby County Medical Examiner has been asked to rule on the cause of death of a 61-year-old retired man whose body was discovered in his home by a maid. The body of Clyde Herron Furr was found in the bedroom of his home at 1644 Goodbar shortly before 3:30 p.m., yesterday police said. Officer C. A. Hawk said Nettie Lawrence of 2022 Sparks, a maid who had come to the home, told him she found Furr in his bedroom. She said his head was hanging over the side of the bed and a .38-caliber revolver was on the floor nearby. Relatives said Furr had been undergoing treatment for lung cancer, Hawk said He was a retired City of Memphis Sanitation Department employee and an Air Force veteran of World War II. He leaves two brothers, Paul R. Furr and I.P. Furr, both of Memphis. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mausoleum in Memorial Park, with entombment in the Mausoleum. Memorial Park Funeral Home will be in charge.Military
