Death
Isaac Morgan Furr, who for 15 years guided the old Lamar street car over the rails that have now been taken up died of a heart attack at 2:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, 1189 Minna Place. He was 59. Mr. Furr had been ill four months. He was born in Claiborne County, Miss., and farmed there until coming to Memphis 30 years ago. He operated the Crosstown and other street cars, before he was assigned to the Lamar route. In 1931 he retired, and had recently been a night watchman. He belonged to the Central Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and was an ardent baseball fan. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carrie E. Furr; four sons, Richard Paul Farr, Isaac Purnell Furr and Clyde Herron Furr, all of Memphis and Pvt. Nolan Ray Furr of Fort Sheridan, Ill.: a sister, Mrs. Archie McBride of Crystal Springs, Miss.; a brother, Albert Furr of Hazelhurst, Miss. two half brothers Newton and Will Furr, and a half sister, Mrs. Rosa West, all of Hermanville, Miss. Funeral services will be held at 19 o'clock this morning at Cosmopolitan Funeral Home. Burial will be at Water Valley, Miss.The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, Tennessee, August 18, 1941
