Death
Philip G. Austin, a native of Mobile, died Friday at his Mon Luis Island Home. He was 80. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and retired from Brookley Air Force Base after 27 years of services. He later became self-employed and was active in business until his death. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Helen Furr Austin of Mobile; two sons, Philip Gendron Austin III of Mobile and David B. Austin of Fairhope; one sister, Elizabeth A. Hinkle of Mobile; and five grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. today at Pine Crest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 4 p.m. prior to the services. The family suggests contributions be made to Dauphin Way United Methodist Church.Arrangements are by Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street.Published April 21 2001, Mobile Register, Mobile Alabama
