Death

Mrs. Linda Darnell Porter Furr, 79, of Concord, passed away unexpectedly at her home Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 9, at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A service will follow in the chapel at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Rick Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. Linda was born Aug. 31, 1942, in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late Lawson Gray Porter and Nora Sutton Porter. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Robin French; son, Randy; grandsons, Joshua and Ryan; and siblings, Edna, Betty, Noley, Ralph, Melvin, and L.H. Linda retired as a supervisor with First Assembly Living Center after 28 years. She enjoyed trips to the beach and the mountains. Her greatest joy was being at home with her husband, and family. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 62 years, Raymond Furr; sons, Roger and wife, Marie, and Rick and wife, Sandy; grandchildren, Kelly, Amanda, Mandy, Shane, Reid, and Justin; 15 great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
