Death
Hatley, Gladys Virginia Furr. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. The funeral service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Mission Baptist Church, Locust, with Dr. Ronny Russell officiating. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be at Mission Baptist Church Cemetery, Locust. Mrs. Hatley was born July 7, 1924, in Stanly County. She had been employed at Cannon Mills, Concord, and was a member of Mission Baptist Church, Locust. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Furr VonCannon and step-father, Henry Titus VonCannon and an infant daughter, Rachel Faye Hatley. Pallbearers are Wayne Furr, Kevin Price, Roger VonCannon, Bobby VonCannon, Ronnie Hatley, Rick Hatley and honorary pallbearer, Dwight Love. Survivors include her husband, Floyd David Hatley of the home; sons, Dwight Hatley and wife, Alice, of Midland and Donald Hatley and wife, Marie, of New London; grandchildren, Rodney Hatley and Shellie Hatley of Locust; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; half-brother, Jerry VonCannon of Concord; and half-sister, Phyllis Eury, of Albemarle. The family wishes to express special thanks to Jimmy Torelli and Amy Rorie for being so kind and loving to Rodney's and Shellie's grandmother.
