Death
LANCASTER, SC ~ Mr. Jerry Michael Furr, age 70, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at his home. He was born October 5, 1949 in Albemarle, NC, a son of the late Marvin Furr and Clara Andrews Furr. He was the husband of Karon Vick Furr. Michael was a retired health care nurse and served our country in the United States Army as an Army Ranger. He enjoyed hunting, target shooting, traveling and classical music. He was easy going and laid back. Michael loved his family and was very attentive to their needs. He also loved his dogs, several of which he named Beau, and cared for his brother’s dog after he passed away. He enjoyed helping Veterans and worked at the Veterans Administration in Rock Hill. Helping others gave him great joy. Michael loved God and his country and was a member of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Furr is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Karon Vick Furr; a son, Kristopher Furr and his wife, Denisa of Cary, NC; a daughter, Joy Furr Zell and her husband, Jimmy of Kannapolis, NC and one grandchild, Annabelle Mullis. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William “Bill” Furr and Eddie Furr. The Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Furr will be a private graveside service at Fairview Memorial Park in Albemarle, NC. The family plans a visitation and memorial service to be announced at a later date.
