Death

CONCORD Ms. Kathy Rebecca Furr Renteria, 67, passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. The family will gather with friends Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilkinson Funeral Home. Kathy was born Sept. 29, 1948 in Cabarrus County, daughter of the late John Ira Furr and Ruby Dover Furr. She went to beauty school, changed to nursing where she became an LPN and retired as a home health care nurse. Kathy loved trips to the beach and adding to her collection of seashells. She also loved spending time with her entire family. Those left to cherish her memory are daughters, Kerry Furr and Jennifer Dominguez of Concord; grandchildren, Whitney Furr, Josee-Morgan Ramirez, Nicholas and Jonathan Jaquez; three great-grandchildren and two on the way; sister, Pinky Honeycutt of Boyton Beach, Fla.; brother, John Furr Jr. of Concord; and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to ALS Association, Jim Catfish Hunter Chapter, 120-101 Pinmare Drive, Raleigh, NC 27603. Wilkinson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
