Death
OCEAN ISLE BEACH - Mr. Charlie Joe Furr Sr., 78, of Sommersette Drive and a former Concord resident, passed away at his home Thursday afternoon. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. James Strickland. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time for the service, and will also be at the home of Joe Furr Jr., 3357 Farm Lake Drive, Concord. Joe was born June 28, 1930, in Concord, to the late Charles M. and Willie Mae Biggers Furr. He first was employed by Mojonnier Brothers in the soft drink industry and in 1978 operated Joe Furr and Associates. Joe was a member of Cabarrus Masonic Lodge No. 720 and was a Shriner belonging to the Oasis Temple. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In 1982, Joe and Jeroline moved to Ocean Isle Beach, where they owned and operated Inlet View Marina. Joe is survived by his wife, Jeroline Kennedy Furr; son, C. Joe Furr Jr. of Concord; daughter, Vicki Lynn Furr of Hickory; grandson, Charles "Charlie" M. Furr. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Colleen Perry and Jane Howard.
