Death
Jane Furr Howard, 65, of 3450 Biggers Road, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at her home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gary Price and Bishop Francis Suza will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home. Mrs. Howard was born Nov. 29, 1940, in Cabarrus County to the late Charles M. Furr and Willie Biggers Furr. She was a graduate of Winecoff High School. Her chosen profession was homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Her excellence and success in these areas was evident to all who knew her. She served for 16 years as a U.S. Navy wife and 25 years as a pastor’s wife. She was always a source of strength and encouragement and a role model to others. She was a member of Spirit of Faith Worship Center, where she served faithfully, as she had in prior churches, holding various offices and ministry positions. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Coleen Furr Perry. Survivors include her husband of 47 years, the Rev. James (Jim) D. Howard of the home; daughter, Leslie Howard Ritch and husband, Wayne, of New London and Robin Howard Sipe and husband, Aubrey, of Kannapolis; son, James C. Howard and wife, Krista, of Concord; brother, Joe Furr and wife, Jerry, of Shalotte; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spirit of Faith, P.O. Box 483, Concord, NC 28026. Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, is serving the family.Endnotes
