Death
Maxine Creed 'Annie' Mrs. Creed, age 78, of Charlotte, died June 9, 2005 at Presbyterian Hospital. A service to celebrate her life will be at 11:00 AM Saturday at Eastway Baptist Church, with Reverend Michael Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday at McEwen Charlotte Chapel. Mrs. Creed was born in Stanfield, NC April 25, 1927, daughter of the late Rufus Lafayette and Emma Huneycutt Furr. She was a member of Eastway Baptist Church for 50 years, a member of the Martha Brady Sunday School Class, and retired as cafeteria manager for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, having served at Midwood Elementary School. Mrs. Creed was known for her pound cakes, and sharing them with her friends. Surviving are daughters, Bonnie Willmann and husband, Jim, of Denver, NC, and Judy Dickerson and husband, Jim, of Charlotte; sisters, Billie Jean Kelbaugh and husband, Calvin, and Peggy Teeter Burleson and husband, Jerry, all of Charlotte; brothers, Malcolm Furr and wife, Aileen, and Bob Furr and wife, Margaret, all of Oakboro, NC; grandchildren, Debbie Whisnant, Shelley Harbin and Angie Cliffe; and great grandchildren, Dylan and Caleb Whisnant, Olivia and Jack Harbin and Madeline Cliffe. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Creed was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Creed; sister, Libby Benfield; and brother, Wayne Furr. Pallbearers will be Merritt Whisnant, Andy Harbin, Thomas Cliffe, Scott Kelbaugh, Jimmy Renegar and Jeff Teeter. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 222 S.
