Death
SHREVEPORT, LA - Mrs. Peggy Hand Edwards, 82, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2001 at 5:00 a.m. at Christus Schumpert Bossier Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m., Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel, with Reverend Billy Pierce, Pastor Emeritus of Cypress Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at the Hand Cemetery near Coushatta, Louisiana. Visitation for Mrs. Edwards will be held at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel on Friday, July 20 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Mrs. Edwards was born in Coushatta, Louisiana on January 24, 1919 to Alma D. and Edmund M. Hand. She lived in the Shreveport-Bossier area most of her life. Mrs. Edwards was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bossier City, and was a charter member and past President of the Bossier Quota Club. Her husband, T. Edwards, preceded her in death. Survivors include her children, Tommye F. Thomas and husband Charles E. Thomas of Benton, Louisiana; and Terry E. Edwards and wife Judy G. Edwards of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Other survivors include grandsons, Mark A. Wilson of Seattle, Washington, John Todd Wilson and wife, Rachel of Haughton, Louisiana; William T. Edwards, and Justin M. Edwards of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mrs. Edwards was affectionately known as “Gran-Gran’ to her five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Veloa Coody, of Nicholasville, Kentucky, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Pallbearers will be Henry Hand, James R. Edwards, William T. Edwards, Justin M. Edwards, Mark A. Wilson, and John Todd Wilson. Memorials may be made to the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission or the donor's choice.Endnotes
