Death
WINSTON- SALEM -Mr. James William Furr, 59, resident of 1405 Forest Knolls Cir., died Monday, August 14, 2006, at High Point Regional Hospital. He had been in declining health since May. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ United Methodist Church in High Point with Dr. Glenn L. Myers Jr. and Rev. Robert Kidd officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Furr was born December 29, 1946 in Guilford County, a son to the late Charles J. and Martha Hollingsworth Furr. A resident of Guilford and Forsyth County all his life, he was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and had worked at Excalibur Presort. He was a member of the Greater Triad and Winston-Salem Shag Clubs as well as a veteran of the U.S. Air Force for eight years. Surviving are two daughters, Laura Sims and husband, Jason of Thomasville and Michelle Furr of High Point; a brother, David Furr of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Laurin, Ryan, Bryson, Bethany and Jacob; a special friend, Vanessa Chason of Rocky Mount; and his former wife and mother of his daughters, Judy Furr of High Point. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Mike Furr. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, N.C. 27262 or to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr. Greensboro N.C. 27407.The News Record, Greensboro, North Carolina, August 15, 2006
