Death

EMERALD ISLE - Helen Furr Guarino, 88, formerly of High Point, died at Liberty Commons of Jacksonville, N.C., on May 29, 2005. She was born on May 6, 1917, in Albemarle, N.C., to James Silas Furr and Nellie Moody Furr, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Paul Guarino; brother Charles J. Furr; nephew Michael Furr; and stepmother Florence Lefler Furr. Surviving are her son, John J. Guarino and wife Lisa of Emerald Isle; daughter Patricia E. Guarino of Emerald Isle; and son Robert W. Guarino and wife Debbie of Stuart, Va. She has three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two surviving nephews. Her life was her family, and she spent most of her years as a loving wife and mother. She was especially known for her contributions with helping others in need. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum by Dr. Glenn L. Myers Jr. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Sechrest Funeral Service on East Lexington Avenue, High Point, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fellowship Hall, Inc., 5140 Dunstan Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27405, or to the charity of one's choice.
