Death

HIGH POINT - Robert Paul Guarino, 82, of 506 Emery Drive died Friday, March 10, 1995, at High Point Regional Hospital. He was born August 24, 1912, in New Orleans, La., a son of Leon and Anna Kron Guarino. He was later a step-son of the late J.C. Welch Motor in High Point. He had been a resident of High Point for the past 66 years. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a degree in Civil Engineering. He was later a professional civil engineer and a registered land surveyor. He was self employed operating Robert P. Guarino P.E. Co. in High Point from 1946 until 1984. He was associated with W.F. Freeman and Company for five years. He was a member of Willow Creek Golf Club, a member of the N.C. Society of Engineering, The N.C. Society of Professional Land Surveyors, the Southern Seniors Golf Assoc., and the N.C. Seniors Golf Assco. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. On July 4, 1937, he was married to the former Helen Elaine Furr, who survives at home. Also surviving are one daughter, Miss Patricia Elaine Guarino of Chapel Hill; two sons, Robert Welch Guarino and John Joseph Guarino, both of Emerald Isle; two grandchildren, Lisa Wilson and Bobby Guarino; and one great-grandchild, Ashley Wilson. Memorial service and inurnment will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park Mausoleum by the Rev. Hubert A. Brown and the Rev. Ralph H. Eanes, Jr.
