ADA - Deputies in Pontotoc County are investigating an incident of a woman shooting her husband with a shotgun during a fight over the weekend. Deputies responded to a call at a home three miles northwest of Ada about 10 p.m. Friday. Deputies found Harvey Dewayne Furr, 44, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound in his back. Furr was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital. Witnesses said Furr got into an argument with his wife at about 9 p.m. During the dispute, Rachel Furr, 39, got a 12-gauge shotgun from her bedroom and fired two warning shots into the back yard, deputies said. When Harvey Furr tried to leave the home, Rachel Furr followed her husband out the front door, and Harvey Furr was shot. After the shooting, Rachel Furr told her 14-year-old son to go to the neighbor's house and call 911. Rachel Furr told deputies that she accidentally shot her husband. The gun and shell casings were found at the scene. Harvey Furr is still listed in critical condition. Deputies expect to interview him later this week.

Harvey DeWayne Furr, age 56, a Tupelo resident, passed away on December 9, 2019 at Tupelo, OK. He was born on March 8, 1963, to Harvey Newton & Omega Ruth (Dority) Furr, at Coalgate, OK. Harvey attended Tupelo Schools, graduating in 1981. He attended Tulsa Welding School. Harvey was a Derrick hand in the oil field and a Sales & Logistics Manager for Cammond Industries. Harvey enjoyed hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, camping, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren & shooting the "bull" with his friends & family.
