Death

The family will be at Criswell Funeral Home, Ada, from 4-6 pm for visitation from friends on Monday, January 17th and the funeral service will be held at 10:00 am at Criswell Funeral Home, Ada, Tuesday, January 18th, with a graveside service following at Rosedale Cemetery. Jaycee was born July 2, 1992 in Ada, OK and lived there all of her life. While she couldn't walk, talk, and later could not eat by mouth due to microcephaly, she could talk with her eyes and smiles. She brought joy and happiness to everyone that met her. When she was little, she was her sisters' personal little baby doll. Sage and Chelsea always wanted to help take care of her. They loved to carry her on their backs, swing her around, help feed her spaghetti, sing, and read books to her. As she grew, her brothers would enjoy riding with her on her wheel chair, talking to her, and making her laugh with their dirt bike revving. Her cousins loved to sit in her lap and would always enjoy playing with her musical toys and watching her laugh as Uncle Brad would make chainsaw & duck noises. Her room was a refuge for many a person needing a Jaycee-smile and a reminder of God's goodness. Her primary caretaker was Susie, her mother. She advocated for Jaycee to have specialty services and equipment to make it possible for her to be cared for at home. She was her voice. Many hours of love, sweat, and tears were poured into sweet Jaycee. Susie will treasure the time she spent with her forever, she was a gift. It was considered a joy and a privilege. She had different helpers throughout the years, but in her later years, Grandma (Carolyn Hicks) had the blessing of caring for her. This was a special time for everyone involved. Jaycee's eyes would light up when she heard Grandma's deep voice, or funny noises, her Disney movies, and, of course, her dad's boogity,boogity, boo! Colton and Ryan were raised with their big sister Jaycee being special. It helped them to be tender toward those who couldn't help themselves. They learned that after having a bad day, going into Jaycee's room and sitting in there, playing, or just watching her, you'd be given great joy. She was so innocent. She taught them to never take anything for granted in life because no matter what Jaycee faced, she was always smiling & happy every day. In later years, they had the opportunity to carry her when she needed to be moved to the car or to her chair. When people mention Jaycee as being “gifted,” we like to remember that she was a gift-giver. She gave her friends and family the gifts of perspective, insight, how to have joy, patience, unconditional love, beauty, being a ray of sunshine in our dark days, and the love of God through Jesus Christ. She lived out her mission of bringing glory to God. Jaycee is survived by grandmother Carolyn Hicks; grandmother Jane Hicks; parents Susie and David Brown; sister Sage (Furr) Foreman; sister Chelsea (Furr) Phelps; brother Jake Furr; brother Colton Furr; brother Ryan Brown; many uncles, aunts, nieces, a nephew, and cousins. Jaycee is preceded in death by her father, Harvey Furr; brother, Daniel Furr, grandparents Harvey and Omega Furr; and grandfather, Ronnie Hicks. She touched many, many lives with her beautiful smile.
