Death
LOCUST, N.C.—Mrs. Annie Furr Ashby, age 46, of Locust, N.C. passed away Monday, May 24th, 1971 in a local hospital as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident. She was born May 16, 1925 in Stanley (sic) County, daughter of the late John Lee Furr and Mrs. Dora Furr of Midland. Funeral services 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 26th at the Mill Grove United Methodist Church. Reverend B. W, Clinard assisted by the Reverend Gerald Lanier and Frank Turner officiating. The body will remain at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland till carried to church at the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be Gregg Caudle, Howard Tomberlin, Homer Hartsell, Oakley Pigg, Jack Spivey and Gene Stancil. Mrs. Ashby and her husband were owners and operators of Bob’s Drive-In Restaurant in Midland. Mrs. Ashby is survived by her mother and her husband, Robert H. “Bob” Ashby; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Drake of Locust and Mrs. Robert M. Clark of Midland; four sisters, Mrs. James Brooks, Mrs. J. Lee Hartsell, both of Midland, Mrs. Noel Kluttz, Mrs. James Spurbeck, both of Carolina Beach; 5 brothers, James Furr, Ralph Furr, J. T. Furr, Douglas Furr, all of Midland, Denice (sic) Furr of Concord and 2 grandchildren.The Charlotte Observer, Charlotte, North Carolina, May 26, 1971
