Death
ALBEMARLE — Edward Peusen “Pete” Furr, 53, of 105 Monticello Drive, died at 11 p.m. on Monday at Stanly County Hospital following several months of declining health. The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Main Street United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev Eugene Dean, the Rev. Roy Gwaltney and the Rev Darwin Lingerfelt. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park with masonic graveside rites conducted by the Albemarle Masonic Lodge 703. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men's Bible Class of Main Street United Methodist Church and the Albemarle City Fire Department. Memorial contributions may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church. The family will be at Lefler’s Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock. Born May 28, 1924, in Stanly County, Mr Furr was a son of Mrs Peatl Braswell Carson of Albemarle and the late Peusen Furr. He was a former chief of the Albemarle Fire Dept., having served 17 years in the fire dept., was a sales manager for Ron’s Used Cars, a member of Masonic Lodge 703 and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U S. Navy. Mr Furr was also a member of the Stanly County Rescue Squad, the NC Firemen’s Association, a member of the Laverly-Owens-Skidmore VFW Post, a member of the Walter B. Hill American Legion Post and was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Lucylle Green Furr, one son, Edward Green Furr of Albemarle, one brother, Robert B. Furr of Charlotte, one sister, Mrs. Robah Green of Windsor, and one half-sister, Mrs Brenda Haithcock of Albemarle.Endnotes
