Death
ALBEMARLE —Gurley Chiton Furr, 49, of Rt 3, Albemarle, died at his home Monday. He was born May 30, 1923 in Stanly County to the late Albert F. and Sarah Eudy Furr. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Disabled American Veterans and DAV Ritual Team. He served in the US Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Furr was an insurance salesman with Western and Southern Life Insurance Company. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Salem United Methodist Church by the Rev. A. B. Weaver. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Hartsell Funeral Home until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to final rites. The family will be atthe funeral home tonight from 7 until 9. Mr. Furr is survived by his wife, Evelyn Presson Furr; a son, Tracy and a daughter, Reva, both of the home, four brothers, Roy and James Furr, both of Rt 3, Albemarle, Clayton Furr of Rt 4, Albemarle, Johnny Brown Furr of Rockingham, one sister, Mrs. Coolridge Almond of Rt 3, Albemarle.Military
