Death
Frank E. Furr of Fort Mill, SC, formerly of Charlotte, NC, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died peacefully at the age of 93 on April 25, 2019. He was born in Charlotte, NC to Solomon I. Furr and Frances York Furr on February 28, 1926. He attended Charlotte City Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1944. He enlisted with the U.S. Naval Air Corps and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. While serving his country he developed a love for flying and after discharge became a licensed pilot. He was a long-time member of American Legion Post 262 and the Forty and Eight in Charlotte. Frank spent the major part of his career, first as a service representative and then a sales representative with Curtis Mathes Corporation of Dallas, TX. He eventually retired as owner/operator of Curtis Mathes Home Entertainment Center in Rock Hill, SC. After retirement his hobby became woodworking at which he excelled, building special pieces for family and friends. He was an avid golfer and loved the game as well as the comraderies with his fellow golfers. He was a long-time member of Incarnation Lutheran Church in Charlotte. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty; his daughters, Leslie (Tony) Houghlin and Trish Furr; his grandchildren, Kevin (Kasey) Graska, and Catherine Graska. He is predeceased by his parents and three brothers, William W., Joe S., and Robert B. Furr. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Saint Margaret's Episcopal Church, 8515 Rea Road in Waxhaw, NC with Father Todd Dill officiating.
