Death
CONCORD -- Raymell Elizabeth Furr Canaday, 62, of 308 Highland Ave., Concord, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Roberta Baptist Church. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The Revs. Steve Pennington, Ray Rippy and Leonard Aycock will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. At other times they will be at her home at 308 Highland Ave., Concord. Born Nov. 1, 1939, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Vadie McClellan Furr and Cleve Monroe Furr. She was a homemaker and a member of Roberta Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Furr, and a grandson, Jesse Harvell. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Canaday of the home; one daughter, Ann Morton and husband Robert of Concord; one son, Randy Wilson and wife Renee of Concord; four step-sons, Thomas Canaday Jr. of South Carolina, Robert W. Canaday of Concord, John W. Canaday of Colorado, Mitchell Morton of Concord; one step-daughter, Kathy Russell of Concord; four brothers, Ed. T. Furr and William F. Furr, both of Concord, Tony G. Furr of Norwood, N.C., and Dewey M. Furr of Florida; two sisters, Phyll Drye of Concord and “Dene” McDonald; four grandchildren, Jessica Culp, Adam Morton, Randall Wilson and Haley Wilson; six step-grandchildren, James Canaday, Leah Heister, John Canaday Jr., Nathan Canaday, Ronnie Russell and Amanda Russell.
