Death
TYRONE, Okla. -- Floyd S. Furr, 65, died Sunday, May 17, 1987 at the Humana Hospital in Dodge City. Born Aug. 8, 1921 at Coalgate, Okla., he married Eula Mae Ketcherside on July 1, 1950 at Clovis, NM. He came to the Oklahoma Panhandle in 1947 from Southeast Oklahoma, and moved to Tyrone in 1959. He was an oil field driller, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Atoka, Okla. Survivors include his wife of the home; four sons, William of Tyrone, Okla.; Larry of Liberal; Kenny of Tyrone; Kelly of the home; five daughters, Kathern McCoy, Tyrone, Okla.; Alene Smith, Wellington; Judy Downs, Rock Springs, Wyo.; Juanita Smith of the home; Annette Jantzen, Guymon, Okla.; two brothers, Clyde Furr of Beaver, Okla.; W.L. Furr of Hugoton; one sister, Leona Avers, Baker, Okla.; and 22 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Tyrone First Baptist Church with Rev. Mearl Wadley officiating. Burial will be in the Tyrone Cemetery under direction of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home.Endnotes
