Death
INDIAN TRAIL - Jewell Aileen Furr Mullis, 92, died Saturday, May 12, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Charlotte with the Rev. Donald Lisk officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Charlotte. Mrs. Mullis was born on Aug. 15, 1914, in Cabarrus County. Her father, William Martin Furr, was a Confederate soldier in the Civil War. Mrs. Mullis was the last surviving child of a confederate soldier. Mrs. Mullis was a faithful member of Clear Creek Baptist Church for 73 years. She played the piano by ear (a wonderful gift from God) for most of those years at Clear Creek Baptist Church. Aside from being a pianist, she was also a homemaker and worked in a hosiery mill. She was a resident of Lake Park Nursing Center in Indian Trail. She is survived by son, Clyde J. Mullis and wife Lucielle of Denver, N.C.; son, H. Lance Mullis and wife, Shirley, of Stanfield; grandchildren, Sharon Walker, Karen Hendrix, Julia Robinson and Daniel Mullis; and great grandchildren, Tiffany Stegall, Jenna, Cortney and Baron Hendrix, and Samantha Robinson. She was preceded in death by husband, Vasker Ruben Mullis, who died in Dec. 9, 1933, as well as daughter, Doris Lilly Mullis; father, William Martin Furr; mother, Lilly Kiser Furr; sisters, Beulah Hunter and Ruby Cox; and brother Carl Furr. Memorials can be made to the Clear Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 9015 Ferguson Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland is handling arrangements.
