Death
Kathleen Furr, 90, of Charleston joined her beloved husband, Jesse, in Heaven on March 18, 2013, in Fort Smith. She was born March 21, 1922, in Wainwright, Okla., to George Barrett and Ella Scott Barrett. She was a member of Charleston First Baptist Church for more than 40 years and of the Lydia Circle. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, housewife and cook. She and Jesse traveled on many Youth Mission Church Camps where she cooked for the different groups. She was preceded in Heaven by her husband, Jesse; five sisters, Mary, Noma, Dona, Georgia and Ethel; and two brothers, Faye and Walter. Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with the Rev. Larry Horne and the Rev. Shayne Baker officiating, followed by a 2 p.m. chapel service at Muskogee Memorial Cemetery in Muskogee under the direction of Smith Mortuary in Charleston. She and Jesse were married for 61 years and had four children, Leon, Pattie and husband Tom, Dewayne and wife Deborah and Jack and wife Cindy, all of whom survive her. She is also survived by one brother, James Barrett and wife Betty; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a legacy of friends. The family will visit with friends today from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Thomas, Ryan and Jason Hiner and Steve, Dewayne, Derrick and Jaxson Furr.
