CHARLESTON - Jesse Furr, 83, of Charleston died Saturday, Dec.. 7, 2002, in his home. He served with the Army in the South Pacific during World War II and a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston serving as church custodian for 22 years and a retired plant manager of Swift and Company. Funeral will be 10 a.m. today at Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at 2 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, Okla. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; a daughter, Patty Hiner of Muskogee, Okla.; three sons, Leon and Jack Furr, both of Charleston, and Dewayne Furr of Dallas; three sisters, Ruby Daniels of Muskogee, Okla., Helen Taylor of Beebe and Floy Hough of Searcy; two brothers, Wilburn Harden of Miami, Okla., and James Harden of Wichita, Kan.; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec 10, 2002, in Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Memorial Park in Muskogee, Okla. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen; a daughter, Patty Hiner of Muksogee; three sons, Leon and Jack Furr, both of Charleston, and Dewayne Furr of Dallas; three sisters, Ruby Daniels of Muskogee, Helen Taylor of Beebe and Floy Hough of Searcy; two brothers, Wilburn Harden of Miami, Okla., and James Harden of Wichita, Kan.; and 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ryan, Jason and Thomas Hiner, Dewayne Martin and Derrick and Steven Furr. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaxson Furr and Christopher Kincaid. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to a church youth group of the donor’s choice.
