Notes
Death
Mrs. M. E. Tucker, wife of Mr. M. L. Tucker, died last Sunday evening at her home in North Charlotte after an illness of nearly five years. Mrs. Tucker's condition has been serious and her children had gathered about her with anxious hearts, fearing the worst, but hoping for the best. The end came at the close of a peaceful Sabbath day, the gentleness of eventide bearing away the gentle spirit of one whose nature was all sweetness, serenity and beauty. Mrs. Tucker was 59 years of age. A large number of years were spent in North Charlotte, a life to whose with whom and for whom it was spent, a beautiful book, each chapter replete with kindness, thoughtfulness, unselfish service, daily giving of the "cup of cold water in His name," gentleness, consecration and devotion to home church and family. Mrs. Tucker connected herself early in life with the Methodist church. To her family she was a guiding star, a beautiful influence which developed strong characters. Besides her husband she is survived by five sons and two daughters, viz: Miss Jennie Tucker, Messrs. Louis, Arthur and Sam Tucker of North Charlotte; Mr. Mallie Tucker of Rock Hill and Mr. Milas Tucker, of Glass, and Mrs. Rosa Tucker of Cornelius. The funeral service was held at the home, conducted by the family pastor, Rev. W. B. West, and the interment was in the family plot at Elmwood. Mr. Tucker and family have tenderest sympathy of all North Charlotte in their affliction. The Charlotte News, Charlotte, North Carolina, January 21, 1915
