John Martin HATLEY

John served as Pope County Clerk from 1898 to 1902 and Pope County Sheriff from 1902 to 1910. He and his family moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1921, where he wasa member of the police forece there for several years before he retired.
"FORMER RUSSELLVILE SHERIFF DIES IN MUSKOGEE THURSDAY
John Hatley, 89, a farmer county clerk and later sheriff of Pope County, died at his home in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Thursday. He was a wheel chair invalid and had been ill a number of years. A member of the police force in Muskogee, he and his family had lived in Muskogee about 35 years, leaving Russellville at that time. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Isaac HATLEY of the HATLEY community near Dover for whose family the community was named. He is the last nember of his generaltion.
Mr. HAtley is survived by his wife, who ws formerly Miss Hallie CAMPBELL, formerly of Russellville also, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charley CAMPBELL and a sister of the late Miss Tenny CAMPBELL, who died several weeks ago, here; two daughters, Helen and Jewel and three grandchildren. Helen is Mrs. Russell BINFORD of Muskogee and Jewel is Mrs. Carl McDONALD of Coopers, Texas.
Funeral Services and buried will be in Muskogee Saturday at two in the afternoon."
John's death certicate said he was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery at Muskogee.
The only other information I have on this family is Jewel Beth McDonald was the oldes born in 1911 and Helen BINFORD was born in 1914.
