Individual Details
Isaac Wiley HATLEY
(14 Feb 1827 - 4 Mar 1899)
My gt gt grandfather, Isaac Wiley Hatley, died 04 Mar 1899 in Pope County, Arkansas and is buried in St. Paul Methodist Church Cemetery near Moreland, Arkansas with his wife, Sarah E. Furr, daughter of John Furr and Beneeta Burris. Her marker was not placed in this cemetery until sometime in the 1970s by a grandson. The dates for her from this tombstone are 06 Oct 1927 - 13 Aug 1881. They were both born in Montgomery Co. NC in the part that later became Stanly Co. There is a community nearby where he is buried that is named Hatley after him. Sarah and Isaac Hatley had 10 children. Isaac later married a second time to Nancy C. Roland on 06 Feb 1883 in Pope Co. Book F page 74. I don't think they had children. Nancy is buried on the other side of Isaac in a unmarked grave. This Church has a chart in one of the classrooms that tells who is buried in the unmarked grave, if this is known. Will be glad to give you the names of their children if you would like to have them.

Notes
Marriage
Book F page 74 Pope County, AR by E. D. Landers. The family story concerning their marriage: Nancy Roland was hired to care for Sarah Furr Hatley when she became ill. She was an orphan girl, who lived with the Hatleys. When Sarah died, family and neighbors told Isaac it would not be right for her to continue to live with him. So he married her.
