The family story concerning their marriage: Nancy Roland was hired to care for Sarah Furr Hatley when she became ill. She was an orphan girl, who lived with the Hatleys. When Sarah died, family and neighbors told Isaac it would not be right for her to continue to live with him. So he married her.

Burial

She has no marker. There is a chart inside the St. Paul Methodist church that shows her grave. She is buried on one side of Isaac Wiley Hatley and Sareh E. FURR, his first wife, is buried on the other side of him.
