Death

ALBEMARLE — Bernice Furr Marbry, 71, of Route 2, died at 5 30 am today in Stanly Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be 2 pm Tuesday at Porter United Methodist Church with the Rev David Hobson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, tonight from 6 to 8. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Born Dec. 5, 1913, in Stanly County, a daughter of the late DC and Georgia Henderson Furr, she was a retired clerk from JC Penney Co and a member of Porter United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband, Roy M Marbry, two sons, David and Henderson Marbry, both of Albemarle, two daughters, Joan Best of Carolina Beach and Paulette Duke of Ruffin, a brother, Walter Furr of Newport News, Va , two sisters, Ruth Curlee of Norwood and Rachel Galman of Denver, 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
