Death

RINGGOLD, Va. - Richard Henry Furr, 54, of 2439 Mountain Hill Road, died suddenly in Danville Regional Medical Center's Emergency Department. Born July 27, 1949, in Danville, he was the son of the late Robert Henry Furr and Elizabeth Reynolds Furr, who survives. He had lived most all of his life in the Mountain Hill community of Pittsylvania County. He had worked for Riverside Roof Truss Company for eight years before his retirement due to health reasons. Prior to having worked for Riverside Truss Company he had worked for the former Disston Corporation for several years before the plant closing. He was of the Baptist faith. He married Vickie Hankins Furr on May 2, 1970. In addition to his wife, of the residence and his mother, of Ringgold, he is survived by two sisters, Sandra F. Hoover of Providence, NC and Patricia F. McCann, of Pelham. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by one brother, Franklin (Frankie) Furr. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Rev. Billy Cook officiating. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel and at other times will be at the residence, 2439 Mountain Hill Road, Ringgold. Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Home, North Main is in charge of arrangements.
